RoCoCo 2027 is open to students aged 15-18. Schools may create teams of motivated students interested in robotics, programming, engineering, technology or creative problem-solving.

Students do not need to be robotics experts. Curiosity, teamwork, and a willingness to experiment matter as much as prior technical experience.

Why Should Your School Participate?

Through RoCoCo, students can:

  • develop programming and algorithmic thinking skills;
  • gain hands-on experience with educational robotics;
  • experiment with sensors, movement and autonomous behaviour;
  • strengthen teamwork and communication;
  • apply creativity to practical technical problems;
  • learn how to document and present their solutions in English;
  • connect robotics with engineering, design and real-life challenges;
  • become part of an international community of young technology enthusiasts.

Teachers do not need to have all the answers. Their role is to guide and encourage the team while allowing students to develop and test their own ideas. The competition is a learning journey for everyone involved.

Bring a RoCoCo Workshop to Your School

Would your students benefit from practical support before taking on the competition challenges?

Schools interested in RoCoCo 2027 may request an introductory workshop delivered directly at their premises by an ICE Robotics lecturer. During the session, students will become familiar with the competition approach and explore robotics through practical activities.

The workshop:

  • takes approximately three hours;
  • is delivered in English;
  • must take place in the afternoon;
  • is led by an experienced ICE Robotics lecturer;
  • is hosted directly at the participating school.

To request a workshop, please email icerobotics@cvtisr.sk and include:

  • the name and address of your school;
  • the name and contact details of the responsible teacher;
  • your preferred date;
  • the proposed afternoon starting time;
  • the expected number and age of participating students.

Workshop availability may be limited, so interested schools are encouraged to contact the project team as early as possible.

The RoCoCo 2027 Final

The competition will conclude with a final event in May 2027.

The final will take place either in Bratislava or Vienna. The exact city, venue and date will be announced by the end of 2026.

The event will bring participating teams together to meet one another, present their skills and face a new robotics challenge under time pressure. Just like in the previous edition, students will need to combine programming, engineering, teamwork and creativity to complete the final mission.

Inspired by RoCoCo 2026

The first edition showed what students can achieve when they receive space to experiment.

During RoCoCo 2026, 73 students in 18 teams from 11 secondary schools in Slovakia and Austria worked on four correspondence challenges using mBot2 educational robots. The competition concluded with a grand final at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, where 53 students took on a demanding planetary exploration mission.

The final was filled with programming, testing, debugging, teamwork and quick decisions. Yet the greatest achievements were not measured only in points. Students gained confidence, learned to respond to unexpected problems and experienced what it means to transform an idea into a functioning robotic solution.

Are You Ready to Join RoCoCo 2027?

Whether your students already have robotics experience or are just beginning, RoCoCo offers them an opportunity to learn by doing. Every line of code, failed test and redesigned solution becomes part of the experience.

Save these important dates:

  • 2 November 2026: publication of the first task together with detailed competition rules and conditions
  • By the end of 2026: announcement of the final venue and exact date
  • May 2027: RoCoCo 2027 final event in Bratislava or Vienna

Visit the Robotics Correspondence Competition page for the first task and further information.

If your school would like to host an afternoon workshop, contact us at icerobotics@cvtisr.sk with your preferred date and time.

Bring together a team, prepare your robots and get ready for the next challenge. RoCoCo 2027 is waiting for you!

The RoCoCo Correspondence Robotics Competition is organised within the ICE Robotics project, which promotes STEM education, educational robotics and innovative technologies while connecting schools from Slovakia and Austria through cross-border cooperation.

The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg Slovakia-Austria Programme.
